What a zany morning around the Puget Sound area, where one area was basking in mid-upper 40s while just 35 miles away, it was well below freezing amid a dense fog.
Welcome to winter in the Northwest.
How would you like to live in a place that not only has a stunning view of the Gulf of Mexico, but creates its own weather?
Check out this photo of individual fog wisps climbing over a line of tall waterfront condos, taken Sunday afternoon by JR Hott of Panhandle Helicopter in Panama City, Florida.
If you thought our ice storm from mid January was something spectacular, you should see what parts of Switzerland have been going through.
These photos show what happens when you combine a large body of water (Lake Geneva) with winds gusting over 40 mph and temperatures that hadn't seen the warmer side of 25F in a week.
You've spent several minutes working to get your hair just right, and then you decided to take a day trip to the Columbia Gorge this week.
Oooooo...bad choice.
Ever wonder what the weather was like on your birthday? Or what caused that big arctic outbreak in 1950? Or just want to see how the field of meteorology has progressed over the past 141 years?

Anyone who has lived here for any significant amount of time knows the weather is quite variable around here, but Tuesday might take it to the extreme.
Or at least for anyone who has not spent any significant amount of time in Sequim.
A tornado the size of Earth blasting winds of 300,000 mph sounds like the stuff of disaster movies, but it's real and it happened earlier this month.
I know it's chilly in the evenings this time of year, but if you've got a heavy coat and perhaps a mug of coffee handy this weekend, it's a fine time to venture out just after sunset to catch a glimpse of a rare celestial show.
